IGCSE Subject Choices

On Friday, 14th March 2008, MS 3 parents and learning partners attended an IGCSE information meeting.

MS 3 learning partners are choosing their subjects they will study for the IGCSE Univerity of Cambridge Examinations in May/June 2010.

To prepare LP`s for the IB Diploma it is important that LP’s choose minimum two languages of which one should be on first language level. Mathematics and Combined Sciences are compulsory. LP’s need to choose a minimum of 2 subjects from the following : French as a Forreign Language, Business Studies, Computer Studies, Geography and History.

Creative Arts and Physical Education will be taken by all LP’s as part of the non-examination curriculum. Good ways to make choices…Consider the following:

  • What are you good at?
  • What do you like studying?
  • What do you need to study to prepare for future courses and employment?

Try to resist being affected by what your friends are doing or which mentors you like/like less. To help you make your final decision talk to your subject mentors, coach and/or read the IGCSE subject course descriptions on www.cie.org.uk
