IB training

Theresa, Daniela, Jutta, Emma and Knut are back from Budapest after their intensive IB PYP training in ‘International-mindedness’ and the ‘Written curriculum’. They will now be able to conduct their own workshops at ISN for the further professional development of all their colleagues.

In July, Kirk, Jessica and Friedrich will also attend IB workshops in Berlin on ICT, Chemistry and language teaching at IB Diploma level. Participation in workshops at different levels and in different subject areas is an IB requirement for authorization to offer IB programmes.

New MS room

MS1 have now moved next door to be together with MS 2, 3 and 4. The newly acquired room can comfortably seat 20 LPs. The old MS1 room will be converted into a common room for use by MS LPs mainly – for independent work, discussions, chat and relaxation. This room will also be used by mentors for coaching sessions, small group meetings and presentations, when not in use by LPs. We thank Mathias Berkel who has kindly donated a colour TV and DVD player for this Common Room. (The other TV and DVD player, donated by Jeannette, has been put in our library). We invite parents, mentors and LPs to donate items like sofa set, coffee table, CD player, framed photos or drawings etc.. to furnish the room, if they wish to. In advance, thank you very much.

Scooters

The scooter population at ISN has grown tremendously, as you may have noticed. Last Wednesday, there were at least 25 LPs happily parading at full speed together on their scooters and skateboards in the school yard….unfortunately only 2 of them had a helmet on. Though scooter riding can be a very dangerous activity, especially on small school ground as ours, I do not intend to ban it. But, I would like LPs to learn to ride their scooters responsibly. That is, (i) to wear a helmet, (ii) to learn to share the space with those (especially the younger LPs) playing other games on the playground and (iii) to park their scooters outside the school building. Scooters parked in the entrance or in the cafeteria (in a small school like ours) restrict movement, cause people to hurt themselves and simply…do not look good! Let’s practice at school what we are very good at practicing at home!

Thank you all very much for your continued support and co-operation.

Kind regards,

Sanjay.
