Middle school news….

Dear LPs, mentors and parents,
I sincerely hope that you all had a wonderful break over Easter in spite of the unpredictably poor weather.

The final lap:

We have now entered the last term of school which will be another very exciting and very stressful step in the history of our school. Last week, the IB Diploma authorization visit schedule was sent to all of you. Two very experienced IB trainers and school visitors will be spending the 3 rd , 4th and 5th  of May at ISN evaluating our readiness to embark on the IB Diploma programme in August 2010.Our school started preparing itself for the authorization visit about a year ago by (i) acquiring additional space to house a science laboratory, library and arts room – the lab and library will be ready in May and the other bits of space by August 2010 ; (ii) sending mentors on the appropriate IB Diploma training courses; (iii) acquiring resources – reference materials, technology, teachers; (iv) spending considerable time during collaborative planning meetings at middle school to focus on the prescribed IB Standards and Practices – the understanding of which is a key element of the authorization and implementation process of any of the IB programmes at any school; (v) writing programme outlines for every single subject and compiling the 200 odd pages of documents to describe our mission, philosophy, beliefs, strengths and approaches to teaching, learning and assessment. And the preparation goes on!

IGCSE examinations – 2010

Our first batch of IGCSE students have already had their first experience of an IGCSE examination last week. Laetitia, Nora, Philipp and Sophie were our first LPs to march into their IGCSE French speaking exams…and…performed very well. English speaking tests will be conducted this week. Good luck to all of you, MS5 LPs.

New mentor:

Jeremy, our new science mentor, officially started with us on Tuesday last week. We wish you a very exciting time at ISN, Jeremy.

IB Diploma subject choice:

I would be very grateful if LPs could return their completed forms by the requested date at the last IB Diploma meeting.
Thank you !

Kind regards,

Sanjay.
