IB authorisation visit… A message from Sanjay.

Our IB visitors expressed their absolute satisfaction over the 2 days spent at our school, evaluating our ‘preparedness’ to offer the IB Diploma programme. This visit, which can also be summed up as a ‘fact-finding’ visit, consisted in the
analysis of (i) the physical structures in place – that is, classrooms, laboratory, library etc…(ii) pedagogical preparedness – that is, the qualifications, training, expertise and knowledge of our mentors; design of subject outlines; teaching standards and practices that reflect studentcenteredness, international-mindedness, collaborative planning and decision-making (iii) understanding, commitment and support of the IB Diploma programme from all the constituents of the school, that is CEOs, Board, PTA executive committee, parents, mentors and LPs.
Our ‘lernhaus’ has been commended for: (i) the impressive CAS programme in place, supported by all members of the community and our LPs’ understanding of the importance of community service (ii) the sustained effort across ISN to model the IB Learner Profile (iii) the culture of collaborative planning that exists at ISN and (iv) the true ‘lernfamilie’ atmosphere and spirit that prevail in our house of learning.

Besides these 4 commendations, both visitors have been extremely satisfied with our ‘state of the art’ science laboratory (the new one), the impressive choice of subjects for a small school like ours, our parents’ understanding of IB programmes and philosophy and the way in which parents, both PY and MS, support the implementation of the
Diploma Programme at our school. It is all a matter of waiting 6 weeks from now to receive the final, official report from the IB Headquarters in Geneva… Let’s keep our fingers (and toes) crossed…
I would like to express my gratitude to all LPs, mentors and parents as well as PTA executive committee members, Beirat and Reto for their remarkable support during this authorisation visit. I would like to extend my special thanks to the parents who, despite their personal and professional schedules, made the time to participate in their respective meetings.
